Working with SMART, Briometrix is piloting a Navability App which will map the best routes for wheelchair users based on their relative ability to propel a wheelchair. The App visualises the terrain from a wheelchairs user’s perspective by tracking journeys, logging essential urban features and displaying interactive maps. It will alsoconstantly update the changing landscape every time a user logs on and makes a journey.
The app will combine the familiar technology seen in Google Maps and exercise monitors with new information specific to a wheelchair experience. Using IoT and advanced data analytics, this work aims to improve accessibility and inclusion for the wheelchair community, and smart city data, with the University of Wollongong the first to be mapped.
This app will be informed by the wheelchair community via the cloud-based CogniCity solution, developed by SMART.
